Super Fresh Deals 5/1-5/7

Super Fresh is doing Super Double Coupons this week! According to the ad, they will double coupons up to $1 in value with a limit of 5 coupons. I am not sure if this means that they will only double 5 coupons per order or if they will double five $1 coupons and lesser values will follow the regular coupon policy. Let's hope it is the second option! I will update you when I find out. Update: The word at Hot Coupon World is that the $1 coupons are limited to 5 and the others double as usual.

There should be some coupons out this weekend that make for some good match ups. Check back here on Sunday to see what I have added!

You can find the full Super Fresh ad here. Prices and coupons can vary by region. This list is taken from a Maryland sale ad. See the Super Fresh coupon policy here. I have included some Easy Solutions booklet store coupons. These store coupons do not double but they can be used along with a manufacturers coupon.

I love razor samples! Between free samples and Drugstore Game razors, I don't need to pay for razors very often. Here are two great freebies available now:

Sign up to get a free Schick Quattro Titanium Trimmer.

Get a free Gillette Fusion Razor if you are one of the first 500 to sign up each day until 5/16. I haven't been lucky enough to get one of these yet but I have a few weeks to keep trying. You can sign up for an email reminder to be sent to you shortly before the new razors are released each day.

CVS This Week: How to Start the Drugstore Game

This is a really great week to get started with the Drugstore Game if you haven't played before. Softsoap Scrub Bodywash (limit 1 offer) and Colgate Sensitive Enamel Protect toothpaste (limit 2 offers) are both free after ECBs (that means you get the same amount back in ECBs that you paid for the item) this week. Plus there were coupons in the 3/29 Smart Source Sunday inserts for both of these items which turns them into moneymakers (you get more back in ECBs than you paid for the item)! There is also an internet printable available for the Colgate toothpaste. The three transactions that I did were very simple and perfect for beginners. First I will show you how I did the transactions and then I will show you how to do the transactions if you are new to the game.

Transaction 1

Purchases:
Colgate Enamel Protect Toothpaste $3.99
CVS Pocket Tissues $.50

Coupons & ECBs Used:
$1 off Colgate Toothpaste
$3 ECBs

Total OOP: $.49 (+ $.09 tax)
ECBs Earned: $3.99

Transaction 2

Purchases:
Colgate Enamel Protect Toothpaste $3.99
Johnson & Johnson First Aid Kit $.99

Coupons & ECBs Used:
$.75 off Colgate Toothpaste
$3.99 ECBs from Transaction 1

Total OOP: $.24
ECBs Earned: $3.99

Transaction 3

Purchase:
Softsoap Body Wash $4.99

Coupons & ECBs Used:
$1 off Soapsoap Body Wash
$3.99 ECBs from Transaction 2

Total OOP: FREE (+ $.06 tax)
ECBs Earned: $4.99

I started this week with $3 in ECBs. I paid $.73 (+ $.15 tax) out of pocket and I ended with $4.99 in ECBs to use next time. My transactions were moneymakers because I ended with $1.99 more in ECBs than I started with but I only paid $.89 total out of pocket.

The tissues and the first aid kit were "filler items" that I needed to purchase to bring my pretax total equal to or above the amount of the ECBs I wanted to use to pay for the transaction. For example, in transaction 2 I wanted to use the $3.99 in ECBs from the first transaction to pay for the second transaction. The toothpaste after the coupon totaled only $3.24. CVS won't let me use the $3.99 in ECBs if my subtotal is less than $3.99. So I had to buy a cheap filler item priced at $.75 or above. The best place to look for useful filler items is the trial size section of the store. Candy bars are another option.

How to do these transactions if you are new to the Drugstore Game & you have the 3/29 Smart Source coupons:

Transaction 1:
Buy Colgate Enamel Protect toothpaste $3.99
Use $1 off Colgate Enamel Protect internet printable coupon
Pay $2.99 out of pocket
Earn $3.99 ECBs

Transaction 2:
Buy Colgate Enamel Protect toothpaste $3.99
Buy another filler item that costs at least $.75
Use $.75 off Colgate Toothpaste coupon from 3/29 SS
Use $3.99 ECBs from transaction 1
Pay whatever your filler item costs minus $.75
Earn $3.99 ECBs

Transaction 3:
Buy Softsoap Scrub Body Wash $4.99
Use $1 off Softsoap Body Wash coupon from 3/29 SS
Use $3.99 ECBs from transaction 2
Pay: Free (but you may pay tax)
Earn $4.99 ECBs

So you end up paying $2.99 plus the amount that your filler item costs above $.75 and you have $4.99 in ECBs for next week!

How to do these transactions if you are new to the Drugstore Game & you don't have the 3/29 Smart Source coupons:

Transaction 1:
Buy Colgate Enamel Protect toothpaste $3.99
Use $1 off Colgate Enamel Protect internet printable coupon
Pay $2.99 out of pocket
Earn $3.99 ECBs

Transaction 2:
Buy Colgate Enamel Protect toothpaste $3.99
Use $3.99 ECBs from transaction 1
Pay nothing
Earn $3.99 ECBs

Transaction 3:
Buy Softsoap Scrub Body Wash $4.99
Use $3.99 ECBs from transaction 2
Pay $1
Earn $4.99 ECBs

Even without the coupons, this is still a decent deal and a good way to get started with CVSing. You pay a total of $3.99 and get 2 tubes of toothpaste and the bodywash. You end up with $4.99 in ECBs for next time.

Free Change Counting with CoinStar

Did you know that you can get free change counting with CoinStar machines if you use your change to purchase a gift card? Typically the CoinStar machines a hefty 8.9 cents per dollar. But if you turn your coins into a gift card, there is no fee. CoinStar offers gift cards for Amazon.com, CVS, Lowe's, AMC Theaters, Borders, Cabela's , iTunes, Eddie Bauer, JC Penny, Old Navy, Overstock.com and Starbucks, but selection varies by machine. Go here to find a machine near you and see what gift cards it offers.

I needed to make a purchase from Amazon.com and I had a bag full of change so I decided to give the CoinStar machine at the grocery store a try. I was a little nervous trying the machine with two kids in tow, but it was really easy and the kids were fascinated. I guessed I had about $30 in coins in the bag but it turned out I had $66!

This Week's Best Coca Cola Deals

The past two months have been bleak if you have been looking for great deals on Coke products. Here at the Penny Possibilities house, we love our Coke! There are a few nice Coke deals starting this week at Super Fresh and Shoppers Food Warehouse.

Coke 2 liters are $.88 each at Shoppers. This price is about as low as it gets! There is no limit to how many you can buy. This price is good on Thursday, 4/9 through Wednesday, 4/15.

Coke 12 Packs are on sale at Super Fresh for 5 for $11 ($2.20 each) with an additional $25 purchase. The sale price is good Friday, 4/10 through Sunday, 4/12. You must buy 5 to get the sale price and there is a limit of 1 offer.

Giant has Coke 12 Packs on sale for $2.50 each on Friday, 4/10 through Sunday, 4/12. There is a limit of 4 items.

I also picked up three 12 Packs of Coke today at CVS for $2.17 each. I had some Extra Care Bucks (ECBs) expiring and I had to use them quickly. Here is how I did it:

Coke 12 packs are 3 for $11 through Saturday.
- Subtract $1 off Coke 12 Pack coupon from MyCokeRewards
- Subtract $3.50 in ECBs
Paid $6.50 plus I received $3 in ECBs.

This is my Coke haul for the day from CVS and Shoppers!

WFMW: Magic Erasers for Cleaning Tile Floors

I have a ceramic tile floor in my foyer that is wonderful because it hides dirt really well. As it turns out, maybe it hides dirt a little too well.

When I was washing the floor last week I noticed that the tiles around the door looked a little grungy even after I mopped them. So I tried scrubbing the dirt off with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. The results were shocking! Apparently the tiles had been sucking in a whole lot of dirt for the past 5 years. They looked beautiful after a few quick swipes of the Magic Eraser. Unfortunately it turned out my entire floor was really dirty and I had to then use the Magic Eraser on the whole thing.

Here is a before and after photo*:

Obviously the tile on the left has not been cleaned with the Magic Eraser yet. The really sad part is this isn't even the area of the floor that I thought looked grungy in the first place. Now it is like I have a brand new floor!

Head over to We Are THAT Family to find more Works for Me Wednesday tips.

*Please note that it is slightly embarrassing to be posting pictures of how dirty my floor was on the internet.

April Easy Solutions Magazine

I found a copy of the latest Easy Solutions magazine at Super Fresh. You can sometimes find them by the sale ads or at the check out counter. The magazine contains manufacturer's coupons and Super Fresh store coupons.

Super Fresh Scanning Policy & Freshness Guarantee

Super Fresh has a Scanning Policy which guarantees that an item scans at the correct price listed on the shelf tag or in the sale ad or you get the item for free. There is a limit of 1 free item. If you purchased multiple items, one would be free and the others would be adjusted to the correct price. The policy only applies to items that cost $10 or less. Items over $10 will only be adjusted to the correct price. In my experience, you have to ask that they apply this policy. If you don't then they will just adjust the prices to the correct price.

Super Fresh also offers a Freshness Guarantee. If you find an outdated product on the shelves, take it to customer service and they will give you an identical fresh item for free. Although I have found outdated items on the shelves at my Super Fresh, I have never attempted to take them up on this offer. I usually have a young shopping companion and we try to avoid the wait at customer service!

My Coupon Organization System

In order to be an effective coupon shopper, you need a coupon organization system that works for you. I use two coupon folders and a toddler shoebox to store my coupons. I keep the two folders in my purse at all times. In them, I keep the coupons of products that I often buy along with restaurant coupons. I store all of my other coupons that I am less likely to use in the shoebox.

Why do I keep the coupons in the shoebox even though I probably won't use them? I keep them mainly for the Drugstore Game. You never know what will be free after ECBs and coupons at CVS. For example, I recently got a bunch of Herbal Essences shampoos from CVS. I don't normally use that brand but I saved the coupons in my shoebox. Even though it is not my usual brand, I am happy to try it if it is free. I also use the coupons from this box during triple coupon week to get items for free or almost free.

In both the folders and the shoebox, I sort the coupons by these categories:
Folder 1
- Bread, Cereal, Crackers & Snacks
- Baking, Spices, Dessert, Candy
- Canned Food
- Dairy
- Pasta, Rice, Potatoes
- Sauces, Spreads, Oil, Jam
Folder 2
- Restaurants
- Store Coupons
- Cleaners, Soaps
- Paper, Plastic, Foil
- Frozen
- Fresh Produce, Fruit Juices
- Meat
- Toiletries
- Dental
- Medical
- Batteries, Light Bulbs
- Baby, Kids
- Other Coupons, Rebate Forms
My categories have evolved over time and they are still changing. For example, I need to split out my Toiletries category to make it more manageable. Other people who use coupon folders organize their categories based on the layout of the aisles in their grocery store. I have also heard of couponers sorting by expiration date or alphabetically.

When I prepare for a trip to the grocery store, I pull out all of the coupons that I plan to use from my folders and box and I put them in an envelope along with my list and sale ad. This way I am not digging around for coupons at the store. I also bring along my two coupon folders just in case I see an unadvertised deal on a favorite product. I leave the shoebox at home.

This system is working well for me right now but it is constantly evolving. My system does involving clipping all the coupons and filing them. The process can be time consuming. This coupon system may not be the best for you. There are a few other systems to check out:
- Coupon Binder: Coupons are clipped and filed in baseball card pages in a 3 ring binder.
- Filing By Insert: Coupons are not clipped. Newspaper inserts are stored intact by date.
- Envelope Method: Coupons are clipped and sorted into envelopes.
- The Couponizer: Coupons are clipped and sorted into a special booklet. This system looks great for beginning couponers but it wouldn't work for those with a large amount of coupons.

What is your coupons system? I'd love to learn some new coupon organizing tips!
